Remember the days when going to work meant being stuck at your desk, working on a desktop PC? Thankfully, the proliferation of laptops, tablets, and mobile devices, along with a robust network to support connectivity, has enabled all of us to be on the go and working, at the same time.

With new innovations in Borderless Networks, which are being announced today, an organization’s ability to securely connect anyone, anywhere, with their preferred device, while delivering a high quality experience even to the most resource-intensive multimedia applications, has become even stronger.

So how will these new innovations change the workplace even more? Watch this video to find out, and to learn more details on the enhancements.

Luckily, most of us don’t have a boss like that one in the video. And using our smartphones, we can get some work done on the beach! (Ok, maybe).

As for how the new the Borderless Networks innovations will have an impact—they will deliver solutions in three areas: Security, Management, and Multimedia.

Here are the details, and what the new innovations will mean for our partners:

Security: Cisco is enabling organizations to improve security, increase employee satisfaction, and reduce time to deployment by providing IT with an industry’s-only centralized, context-aware policy engine that enables secure access of any user device over any network.

TrustSec 2.0 is the next solution phase of the Borderless Networks services, delivering enhancements in role-based access control. The Identity Services Engine (ISE) in TrustSec 2.0 is an industry-first centralized policy engine for all access to the network. It allows organizations to provision and deliver cross-domain application and network services in a dynamic, agile manner, while ensuring corporate and regulatory compliance.

Management: Cisco is enabling organizations to increase IT efficiency, reduce IT training, and decrease time to resolve IT issues by providing a converged service-centric management platform. The Cisco Prime portfolio of enterprise and service provider management offerings supports integrated lifecycle management of Cisco architectures and technologies based on a service-centric framework.

Built on an intuitive workflow-oriented user experience, Cisco Prime products help increase IT productivity and reduce operations costs through innovative management solutions for the network services, infrastructure, and endpoints. Unified management is now available via Cisco Prime for wired and wireless networks to increase IT efficiency.

Multimedia: The latest innovations provide automation and troubleshooting in the network to deliver application quality of experience, particularly with video. They also enable organizations to reduce cost and time in resolving application choke points in the network and scale applications to any endpoint with greater speed and efficiency.

The new offerings also enhance a consistent, high-quality user experience with industry-first features like media monitoring, Metadata, Media Services Interface (MSI), and Media Services Proxy (MSP). These provide comprehensive operational control, media-aware networks and network-aware endpoints on Catalyst switches, ISR G2, ASR 1000 and Cisco and legacy endpoints.

Cisco is also announcing new security, video, and mobility innovations for the branch and enabling organizations to rapidly transition to IPv6.

How do partners benefit?

The new and enhanced professional services from Cisco and our partners will help customers realize the value of their investment faster, while validated design guides and enhanced Smart Business Architecture (SBA) offerings will enable customers to implement, optimize, and manage their borderless network more efficiently.

By leveraging the enhanced Installed Base Lifecycle Management (IBLM) approach, partners can also help customers identify and plan for migration and refresh opportunities across switching and routing, security, wireless, as well as the network.
