Learn, Experience, Architect and Plan Your Data Center

- October 20, 2010 - 3 Comments

It’s one thing to hear about the latest data virtualization and cloud infrastructures, but to truly understand the way these technologies work, you have to see them in action. In the past, testing out the technologies required finding someone willing to give you a tour of their data center, or paying for your own dedicated test environment.

But that all changes today. Cisco distributor partner the Westcon Group has unveiled the first in a series of US-based “Centers of Excellence” so VARs can get hands-on training and an up-close look at solutions targeted at next-generation, virtualized data centers.

Called LEAP Centers (LEAP stands for Learn, Experience, Architect and Plan), these locations provide an opportunity to test-drive a broad range of leading data center.

We chatted with Westcon about these new LEAP centers, what they offer, and how partners can get involved.

What’s inside the LEAP Centers?

At the LEAP Centers, a wide-array of solutions are available, from the Cisco Unified Computing System, to storage from NetApp and EMC, and virtualized applications from VMware, Microsoft, Oracle, and SAP. The best part is that you can access the Center’s resources both on-site and remotely. Each LEAP Center is engineered to replicate real-world scenarios faced in deploying virtualized servers with customers.

The best part about the LEAP centers is that you can set up and host your own data center demonstrations without incurring the additional expense of procuring a dedicated data center network test environment. Each LEAP Center provides training on data center-related products, and provides proof-of-concept evaluations utilizing competitive server solutions.

The first center opened in Brussels last month and more launches are on the way. Resellers can schedule an appointment at centers in Brussels and at the U.S. facility in Denver by contacting their local Comstor or Westcon representative, or by visiting the LEAP Center site.

What do you think about the new LEAP Centers?

  1. Westcon consists of two brands: Westcon and Comstor. Comstor is our Cisco-focused brand and company. Our Data Center offerings span both companies, but the Cisco solutions are on the Comstor website vs. the Westcon website. So please navigate there at the link below:

  2. I followed URL on this blog to the LEAP Center website, but I did not see much on Cisco Contact Center solutions. As a matter of fact, my trail led to Avaya! Any idea where we can find Cisco Contact Center solutions on the Westcon site? Thanks!
