We attended Cisco Live where we talked to partners in the Cloud Partner Pavilion, learned about geeky gadgets, watched as John Chambers met with partners at the event, and even got a chance to see the famous William Shatner (aka, Captain Kirk) close out the event.
There was no shortage of music at Cisco’s 15th annual Partner Summit where the focus was on architectures and cloud with new partner programs to increase profitability. We talked to so many partners who traveled to the event from around the globe and caught up with Cisco executives who gave us their key takeaways from the event.

2012 may very well be the year of the cloud. This year, the Cisco Cloud Partner program launched with three tracks that map to three primary business models in the cloud marketplace: Cloud Builder, Cloud Provider, and Cloud Reseller. Plus the recent big news around CloudVerse means partners can offer an end-to-end customer solution.
We also heard a lot about the Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure and how it delivers desktop virtualization with secure access to data, voice, and video for fixed and mobile devices.
From WebEx to Jabber to Cius, there’s no question that collaboration is hot — and partners have a great opportunity to take advantage of a growing market.
We wrap up our wrap up with some notable quotes from Cisco leaders on the importance of partners.
“When my competition comes to you and says, ‘I’ll give you some of my server business if you’ll join me in inserting my technology as a commodity into a Cisco account’ just tell them, ‘No’ because they are asking you to commoditize your business.”
– Rob Lloyd, Executive Vice President
“We have been a consistent partner for you over the last 15 years. You are and will continue to be our primary route to market. We will focus on your growth and profitability as we go forward, because we know that’s what will drive our future success.”
– Keith Goodwin, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Partner Organization
“We are moving from an information economy to a networked economy–we will go together with our partners.”
– John Chambers, Chairman and CEO
“Cisco is investing more than ever in our partners, we’re committed to partner enablement, profitability and differentiation. No matter how you add it up, the one thing that doesn’t change: we believe we have to earn your business every day. Cisco partners are the best and we thank you for your partnership.”
– Edison Peres, Senior Vice President, WW Channels
Enjoy the holiday season, have a happy new year, and we look forward to continued growth and success in 2012.
