Day Two Partner Summit: Innovation and Demonstrations

- April 29, 2010 - 0 Comments

Video, the network, and the next generation of the Internet: Those were the themes speakers covered at Wednesday’s Partner Summit general session. Padmasree Warrior, Cisco’s CTO, started things off by talking about how video will be central to business deals, communication, and interactions.

She also remarked that the Internet is expanding from a superhighway to a platform that is transforming industries, and noted that the network will play a significant role in enabling business transformation globally. In Padma’s view, IT will also help drive economic growth and new business models.

Padma then cued up a demo of TelePresence and showed how, in the future, you can visit the DMV from your living room. Padma concluded by telling partners that the “combination of innovation and operational excellence is how we will reach new heights.

Next up, Tony Bates–SVP and GM of Enterprise, Commercial and Small Business–echoed three themes:

…innovation, transformation, and partnership. Tony said that in order to innovate and transform, partners should use the strategic framework provided by the data center, borderless networks, video, and collaboration.

As an example of how Cisco technology has transformed a business, Tony pointed to Molina Healthcare, which implemented to change the customer experience. Tony then demonstrated Borderless Networks and Bluetooth, and showed how the two can provide seamless, reliable, and secure connectivity.

Marthin DeBeer, SVP and GM of the Emerging Tech Group, took the stage next and indicated that we’re just scratching the surface on video’s infinite possibilities. He pointed out that TelePresence will transform how video is viewed and consumed in people’s homes and that Cisco and Tandberg technologies will allow better collaboration. This demo from his keynote at Cisco’s Partner Summit 2010 shows us how this happens.
