Cisco Partner Weekly Rewind – September 19, 2014

- September 19, 2014 - 0 Comments

Each week, we’ll highlight the most important Cisco partner news and stories, as well as point you to important, Cisco-related partner content you may have missed along the way. Here’s what you might have missed this week:

Off the Top

Cisco made an exciting announcement this week in security this week with the industry’s first threat-focused next generation firewall – the Cisco ASA with FirePOWER Services – as well as enhancements to Cisco’s Security Channel Partner Program. Al Jacobellis provides an overview and discusses two major security specializations and incentive programs to help drive growth and relevance for our partners in his blog Igniting Security at Cisco.

Starting the Conversation with Business Outcomes

In Grow Your Leads and Increase Deal Size with Personalization, Marlowe Fenne (@mfenne) details how a small innovative team at Cisco is meeting with all kinds of success when beginning customer meetings with a discussion that focuses on customer-centric goals – business outcomes – to get a heart at the solution selling.  Starting the conversation this way at recent events increased the number of qualified lasts by 27 percent and the average deal size by 70 percent.

Wow, who wouldn’t want to enjoy this bump in the bottomline? If you’ll be at upcoming Cisco event like Interop (Sept. 29 – Oct. 3), stop by and ask to participate in a VIP Booth Tour.

Igniting Your Marketing Superpowers

Sherri Liebo (@sherriliebo) continued her series on marketing superheroes this week with a look at Data Man: The power to turn piles of data in competitive insight. This marketing wisdom into what’s actually important in that huge pile of data is critical to your team’s success. What is important? What matters? These are the questions Data Man can help you answer. Be sure to check out the latest from Sherri and let us know what you think, and what you’d like to hear from her in the future.

Partner Voices

We had an interesting case study this week in our latest Partner Voices blog. This blog shows how solution partner StorMagic and Cisco UCS technology helped Digital Risk LLC achieve simplified deployment and significantly reduce its costs.

Check it out and let me know what you think. If you have an interesting story, be sure to find me at @david_durham33.

Cisco Leaders in Good Company

Every year, the Channel Company celebrates its growing vendors at the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC), held this year in San Jose, Calif. Chosen for their “exceptional sales growth,” this year’s recipients of the Rising Star Awards drove more than $130 billion in annual revenue combined through the channel.

Our own Julie Hens (@jhens), vice president of Worldwide Distribution Sales, was among those honored this week by Tim Curran, CEO of Global Technology Distribution Council, at the U.S. Vendor Summit as one of The Future is Bright: GTDC Rising Stars. Specific credits include her work around the vendor channel support to GTDC. Hens was also named a CRN Channel Chief and Women of the Channel executive.

Additionally, at this week’s Midsize Enterprise Summit in Dallas, Texas, Sherri Liebo, vice president of Global Partner Marketing, was among those honored to be included in the Channel Company’s annual list of the Top 50 Midmarket IT Vendor Executives for 2014. Nominated by peers, colleagues, customers and partners, she and others were recognized based on their unwaveringly committed to serving the midmarket and dedication to creating unique solutions for the specific needs of this market.
