Cisco Partner Summit 2013: Here’s What’s On My Mind

- May 21, 2013 - 0 Comments

Cisco Partner Summit kicks off in two short weeks! This is my first Partner Summit as senior vice president of the Worldwide Partner Organization (WWPO), and I couldn’t be more excited for the discussion, the engagement, and most importantly, the opportunities that await us.

Partner Summit is one of the most important Cisco events of the year. Whether you’ll be joining us live in Boston or you’ll be one of the thousands of Cisco partners attending our Virtual Partner Summit, remember that this event is all about you. It’s your chance to interact with us, it’s our chance to listen to you, and most of all it’s everybody’s chance to have fun together.

Over the past 10 months, I’ve spent time with Cisco partners from all over the world. Every partner is unique, and that’s part of what makes the Cisco partner community so highly regarded in the industry. The two most consistent care-abouts I hear from you  are: “What is my business model going to look like in the future?” and “What do we need to do to stay profitable as the IT industry continues to change?”

These are hugely important questions that we at Cisco are focused on every day, and rest assured we’re going to tackle these topics head-on throughout Partner Summit.

The channel has never undergone as much seismic change as it’s going through right now. But whether we’re talking about technology architectures, software integration, or the way customers want to buy IT, each of these major changes involves a smarter, more intelligent network, and each is a major opportunity to unlock the value of the Internet of Everything.

I’ve been at Cisco for close to 10 years and in IT for more than 25 years, and I can say without hesitation there has never been a more exciting time to be a Cisco partner. You’ve heard us say that Cisco’s goal is to be the No. 1 IT company in the world, but at the same time, we will also remain the most partner-centric organization in the industry. We don’t win unless you, our partners, are happy, productive and most of all, profitable.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in two weeks. For now, let Edison Peres, senior vice president, worldwide channels, and I tell you a little bit more about what’s in store at this year’s Partner Summit in Boston.
