September 1, 2009 - 34 Comments

Today, VMWare kicked off its user conference VMworld in San Francisco, where they expect more than 10,000 customers to attend and learn about the latest virtualization technologies from many different vendors. One technology that is transforming virtualization is the Cisco Nexus 1000V which was develop in collaboration with VMware and recently released as part of VMware’s vSphere solution in May. I recently had a chance to sit down with Paul Fazzone of the Server Access Virtualization Business Group to discuss the reaction this solution is getting from customers and partners. If you want to learn more about how Cisco is helping unify the network infrastructure to simplify virtualization management for our customers, I recommend checking out:Tuesday, Sept. 1 @ 1:00 p.m. Soni Jiandani, vice president of marketing for the Cisco Server Access and Virtualization Group is hosting a live Internet TV broadcast and Q&A session and will be joined by special guests: James McGibney, lead data center manager and Jason Morgan, senior network manager at Tutor Perini Corporation, the very first customer to deploy the Cisco Unified Computing System, and CEO Joel Schleicher and CTO Dave Hart of Presidio Networked Solutions, one of the first Cisco UCS Advanced Technology Partners. Click here for more information related to this webcast.Tuesday, Sept. 1 @ 4:00 p.m. Ed Bugnion, vice president and chief technology officer for Cisco Server Access and Virtualization Group will present a session at VMworld on Cisco’s virtualization solutions and highlight collaboration between Cisco and VMware to simplify management of virtualization in many different technology areas. This session will highlight specific innovations that address specific pain points for enterprise customers. Ed will outline how VN-link technology allows customers to apply security and policy at a virtual instance level. He will describe how customers are simplifying their infrastructures leveraging a Unified Fabric architecture and he will discuss Unified Computing which is designed to work as a cohesive system to provide the density, control and performance to allow customers to virtualize more of their application footprint. Also you can check out Cisco’s full range of data center virtualization solutions at VMworld at Cisco booth 2118.

  1. We are one of the biggest customers of CISCO in Sri Lanka. We are really happy to hear this news. We got this information two months ago and we are much interested on this solution, since we are a leading Internet Service Provider in our country. Thanks you CISCO! Hope we will be benefited by this solution.

  2. No doubt CISCO is always coming with amazing solutions! What are the difficulties to do the same with sun virtualbox? I agree that VMWARE is richer than vbox in terms of the features they have.
