Connected Urban Development is born from a commitment that Cisco gave to to the Clinton Global Initiative in 2006 to showcase how pervasive broadband connectivity and ICT can help decrease CO2 emissions in large metropolitan areas. The CUD is a partnership between Cisco and cities of San Francisco, Amsterdam, Seoul, Lisbon, Madrid, Birmingham (UK) and Hamburg.In this video, Jason Deign from News@Cisco interviews Nicola Villa, Global Director, Connected Urban Development, Cisco and Bas Boorsma, Head of Connected Urban Development, Cisco about the first Smart Work Center.Jason interviews Chris Dedicoat, President of Cisco Europe and Job Cohen, Mayor of Amsterdam on collaborating to address urban issues from traffic to sustainable work environments and reducing the citizen carbon footprint.Jason interviews Alan Rodger, Director, British Antarctic Survey and Bill St. Arnaud, Chief Research Officer, CANARIE, about the impact of global warming on the polar regions and climate change.
