Tour of Cisco’s new on-site LifeConnections Health Center

November 18, 2008 - 14 Comments

I recently caught up with Dr. Pam Hymel, senior director of corporate medical programs, who took me on a tour of Cisco’s new on-site health center in San Jose. Cisco employees and their dependents will be able to get a breadth of medical services on-campus, ranging from primary care and physical exams to immunizations, lab work, health coaching, acupuncture, chiropractic care and physical therapy. They will also have access to an on-site pharmacy.Employees are able to use the health center on an as-needed basis or for primary care, while still continuing the relationships they have with their private physicians. The facility is a part of the new LifeConnections Center, which also offers a child care center for 400 children, as well as a state-of-the art fitness center. The child care center, gym and pharmacy are currently open. The health center will officially open on Monday, Nov. 24. More information on the center can be found here. Currently, employees are able to book appointments.

  1. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of care. Never more true than in the world of health! Healthy staff make healthy companies, and Cisco is living proof that investing in people and doing things the right way is always the right business choice. Great work Cisco, and well done for including Chiropractic care in your approach!

  2. There's something to be said for working for a larger company...these types of facilities being one of them. Of course, I guess that has something to do with which larger company you work for. I worked for Xerox for a while and we had nothing like this.

  3. Cisco seems to be one of the smart companies that has a future perspective.

  4. That is awsome that the employees are able to use the health center on an as-needed basis or for primary care, while still continuing the relationships they have with their private physicians. Everyone always likes to have a primary care doctor that they have a good relationship with and can trust their advice.

  5. A real health benefit for employees from CISCO, It should be treat as foot mark for other companies.

  6. This is a great health center and it was also a good video giving a good preview of it. I look forward to see what people thing when it opens next month.Health Savings Account"

  7. That's another example of how caring is Cisco about their employees. I wish i could have got the job in such big organization.

  8. In my point of view CISCO' focusing on collaboration that draws colleagues members and manager inputs from all the levels as the main river for its strategy to capture the new world of market, and its taking a decentralized rather than top to down tack. this highlights that other companies may gain success by following 'CISCO'."

  9. cisco is still a great company. Thanks for sharing this info.

  10. Cisco is always at the top of their field in innovation and new 21st century technology. This facility is just one prime example.

  11. I toured this facility for a customer EBC this past week. Way beyond anything else I've ever seen. A very well thought out design and efficient use of our technology.

  12. Hi PamWhat a wonderful program you have at Cisco, I was on the plane with you and Mike, he was the nice young man who drove you home after our flight problems in D/F, last week. Drop me a line, I enjoyed traveling with you. Best Kris

  13. Cisco seems to be one of the smart companies that has a future perspective. This health center initiative is a very good example to follow for other major companies as well. I just hope that will do that.

  14. This is very interesting and unusual.
