Santa Brings High-tech Holiday Cheer to Australian Children at Royal Children’s Hospital with Video Technology from Queensland Health and Cisco
Earlier this week, with the magic of innovative video technology from Queensland Health and Cisco, young patients from Royal Children’s Hospital were given a special opportunity to see and talk live with Santa in his winter home in the North Pole.
Being in hospital over Christmas can mean that children miss out on some of the exciting Christmas traditions, particularly visiting Santa Claus. By bringing Santa to patients at Royal Children’s Hospital using video technology, hospital staff were able to provide that all-important Christmas sparkle and spirit to the ward, putting a smile on all the children’s faces, and helping to provide an enjoyable experience for the children and their family and friends.
Children and their family members gathered around in the common areas at Royal Children’s Hospital where the Cisco video solution was set up. As the video solution is mobile, it was also transported to patients’ bedsides so that children who need special care also had the chance to see and speak with Santa Claus.
This initiative is a perfect kick-off to the holiday season and is also a great way to show the power of technology – and how it can transform our world – one Santa visit at a time!
