Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers

Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers helped Network World celebrate its 25th anniversary this week by offering a perspective on the past, present and future of networking.

Cisco was tiny when Network World (our industry’s leading trade publication) first rolled off the presses in 1986. We had just four employees and were still led by our founders out of Stanford University.

Twenty-five years later (and one year after Cisco celebrated its our own 25 -year milestone), Chambers says: “The network is more important today than at any time in history.”

  1. WOW does not describe the overall effect John and CISCO has had on my life and opinions on the his competition. I came into networking from the Engineer-in-Charge of a multi Supercomputer environment in 1990. I witnessed the evolution of "networking" from it's very beginning. CISCO switches and routers have always out shinned the competition in simplicity of its design and systems. Sadly, because of budget constraints, my string of attending CISCO live! this year will not be realized. I know that Mr. Chambers will deliver another GREAT performance and wish all attednees well..

  2. Very good Cisco! Cisco is indead a important network throughout the world!

  3. At the present Cisco is king in the network technology.I have good wishes for Cisco whole management at the moment of anniversary
