Cisco Live! Australia and New Zealand Wraps Up… Until Next Time!
The first Cisco Live! in Australia was a whirlwind of programs, networking with customers and partners, news announcements and exploring of what’s possible in the World of Solutions. On the last day, I had the opportunity to check out the World of Solutions and here’s a quick snapshot.
Cisco Live Platinum and Gold sponsors, Optus Business and Alphawest, showcased the future of collaboration with live demonstrations of the newest Cisco collaboration platform, Cisco Quad. And not only was it demonstrated at Cisco Live, Alphawest also talked about how it’s being adopted internally (read more here).
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Alphawest also invited Cisco Live delegates to predict the future of ICT and watch as their vision was translated by artists onto a “Future Wall”. So what was depicted on this mural of the future – a data centre on the moon and children born with RFID tags behind their ears were some of the more interesting predictions.
There was also a lot of news from our customers and partners at Cisco Live, here’s a quick summary:
- Telstra on how large organisations will soon be able to measure and report their IT network’s energy usage thanks to a new Cisco EnergyWise service it is launching (read more here).
- Logicalis on how Enspire Australia, an integrator, ISP and cloud computing specialist, has become Australia’s latest Cloud Service Provider to offer software-as-a-service (SaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) using the Vblock™ infrastructure platform that includes solutions from EMC, Cisco and VMware (read more here).
- NetApp on how local IT outsourcing provider ASE IT is transforming its data centre infrastructure with best-of-breed equipment from NetApp, Cisco and Citrix and delivered by Bridge IT for continued growth and interest in cloud services by Australian SMEs (read more here).
- KPMG is the first of the “big 4” in Australia to roll out Vblock with Cisco, EMC, VMware and Dimension Data (read more here).
And I got my first look at the VCE Company’s Vblock infrastructure package featured in the Cisco Data Centre of the Future area in the World of Solutoins. If I had to choose one word to describe the appeal to customers and partners, it’s record-breaking “simplicity”. Check it out here:
