Big Day at Cisco Live! Day 1 Wrap Up
Cisco Live has kicked off in full force today with many exciting new announcements! Cisco CEO, John Chambers kicked off his keynote with the announcement of the Cisco Cius, a first-of-its-kind mobile collaboration business tablet that delivers virtual desktop integration with anywhere, anytime access to the full range of Cisco collaboration and communication applications, including HD video. Check out the demo of Cisco Cius in the first part of Chambers’ keynote.
Cisco also unveiled the winner of the 2nd I-Prize competition, an open, global innovation contest developed to encourage collaboration among entrepreneurs and help identify new potential billion-dollar business ideas for Cisco. A team of five university students from Mexico submitted the winning idea of a ‘Life Account’ that gathers information about users through connected devices in the physical world and online data available in the virtual world. The Cisco Home Energy Management Solution was also announced. The device features a Home Energy Controller along with Cisco Energy Management Services that, when provided by utilities to their customers, are designed to help consumers securely and reliably gain insight into, and easier control over, their energy use.
