Cisco at Rockwell Automation Fair – Plant and IT Converged Networking

February 23, 2012 - 0 Comments

Last Fall Cisco was a major exhibitor at the Rockwell Automation Fair in Chicago. Rockwell Automation have just published a video where Kevin Davenport from Cisco (Cisco is a Rockwell Automation Strategic Alliance Partner), talks about the company’s Industrial Ethernet switch technology for a secure Ethernet  enabled factory, developed in collaboration with Rockwell Automation.

Hear Kevin being interviewed by Theresa Houck, Editor of the Journal from Rockwell Automation Magazine, as Kevin talks about some of the jointly developed technologies that Cisco and Rockwell were previewing at the show.

The Stratix 8000 Industrial Ethernet Switch is highlighted as part of a demonstration of how Plant floor data can be accessed inreal time by traditional IT systems and networks as part of a converged architecture.

Using Cisco’s secure collaboration and mobility solutions Cisco and Rockwell can address real factory imperatives such as meantime to repair and improved up-time, resulting ultimately in productivity gains and cost savings.
