Smart Lighting & Parking in Australia

The City of Adelaide recently partnered with Cisco to leverage the city’s wireless network and run pilot programs with some of our Smart +Connected Communities solutions – specifically in the realm of lighting and parking. Peter Auhl, Chief Information Officer of the City of Adelaide, provides a brief overview of the pilots and the impact this has had to both the citizens and city leadership.

    Let There be Light. Several NA cities have been implementing smart street lighting and parking (in conjunction with their utility providers). Go to the Cisco website and search for smart lighting or parking. San Francisco, Toronto, Kansas City and Lexington are ones that pop up. Also look at video which is helping places like New York city safer. What is really of interest is the strong ROI numbers for stores, shoppers, travelers, tourists and the host city. Looking forward to reading about more cities lighting up.
