Striking the Right Balance in the Branch: Experience & Productivity vs. Cost & Efficiency

Talking with customers in various segments, one common trend seems to be emerging for branch deployments:  customers are trying to strike the right balance between 2 opposite ideals. On one side they want to deliver great user experience and drive employee productivity but on the other side they are being asked to reduce cost and operate more efficiently. It is becoming increasing challenging to strike this right balance, especially with newer technologies like virtualization, BYOD and Cloud.

From a branch deployment perspective we live by a mantra of “simplicity through integration”. Branch environments can become increasingly complex with the increasing mix of virtualization and cloud technologies and we strive to innovate to simplify these environments. 

  1. One of the key innovations Integrated Services Router G2s bring is through integration of services – in the past you had separate devices for Routing, Network infrastructure, Appliances and Servers, we have brought all of these services together on the ISR G2 which helps to reduce cost for our customers and helps increase employee productivity.
  2. In addition to routing, security, unified communications and WAN optimization services – we are also enabling server class computing services. Cisco UCS is innovating in the data center by unifying networking and virtualization and we are bringing the same value of great user experience in the branch environment with the new Cisco UCS E series server to enable the same value in the branch environment.
  3. The network plays a strategic role in the adoption of cloud services and cloud ready platforms (ISR G2, ASK1K and CSR1000v) play a key role in securely connecting users at one end and cloud services on the other. With the Cloud Intelligent Network architecture we are transforming customer’s existing infrastructure ready to consume cloud services.
