Cisco Live 2011 In Review Through the Switching Prism

July 15, 2011 - 0 Comments

I’ve spent the majority of my time last week mixing it up with the record-breaking crowd of over 15,000 customers, partners, press, analysts, and other Cisco enthusiasts and it was truly gratifying to feel the positivity generated by the basket of Catalyst switching innovations we announced at the show (please take a look at my previous post for details).  Here’s a rundown of the highlights:

Catalyst 6500 – The most widely deployed modular switch gets a big refresh and is poised to take on another decade of challenges

Kumar Srikantan, VP of Marketing for the Scalable Networks Business Unit, discusses the motivation behind the new enhancements made to Cisco’s flagship networking solution, the Catalyst 6500, and its impact to customers.  Watch his interview at Cisco Live – The Vibe Extra.

Listen in as Cisco’s CTO, Padmasree Warrior, summarizes the new product additions in her keynote.

And, from a customer perspective, Ed Wilson, network test engineer and system design specialist from Penn State University, describes his experience with the new Catalyst 6500 products.

Catalyst Access Innovations

Rob Soderbery, SVP/GM of the Unified Access Business Unit, describes the new enhancements made across Cisco’s access portfolio and provides insights into the convergence of wired and wireless at the edge of the network.

The Cisco Catalyst Switching Innovations Booth

We had the great pleasure of hosting  conference attendees at our booth showcasing the top-to-bottom enhancement of the Catalyst switching products.  It was tremendous to see the level of interest displayed by the conference attendees; as you can see, it was very often standing room only!

Many walked away with big smiles and a brand new Kindle Wi-Fi after our hourly prize drawing (here’s an album with the collection of beaming faces!).

Cisco Live Virtual

For those of you who could only be with us in spirit this week, get registered for Cisco Live Virtual to access over 1,000 technical training sessions, keynotes, and Super Sessions.

Thank you all for making Cisco Live 2011 a fantastic success, and for your continued support.  Until next time!
