NEC Australia and Cisco Collaborate to deliver Hybrid Cloud Unified Communications
NEC Australia has announced this week that it has launched NEC Cloud Collaboration, a cloud application portfolio which includes solutions for telephony/voice, video and web conferencing, mobile devices, chat and IM all hosted in a hybrid on-premise and cloud deployment model.
We are pleased to be partnering with NEC for this portfolio which will be built on the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) which was planned, designed and efficiently implemented by Cisco Advanced Services.
Why is UC in the cloud or UCaaS gaining momentum? The answer is simple, the platform addresses a number of the major concerns that have prevented end users from universally adopting unified communications in the past.
According to research from Telsyte commissioned by NEC, 36% of Australian IT decision makers say that cost is the key barrier to UC adoption. The cloud delivery model circumvents this by turning what has traditionally been a large capex outlay into a manageable and lower risk capex expenditure. NEC’s service, powered by Cisco, offers a flexible approach to business transformation and a pay-as-you pricing structure for Australian SME, enterprise and government customers.
As it stands today, 79% of UC deployments are on-premise only. However the Australian UC market is seeing a shift towards the cloud as the availability of robust cloud solutions increases as does the local integration expertise.
Rodney Gedda, analyst at Telsyte agrees, commenting that: “the cloud delivery model represents the best opportunity for UC to become a mainstream business service. As cloud services mature, UC will become much closer to what people expect from business communications, rather than a premium add-on.” For the full report on Cloud Collaboration by NEC and Telsyte please follow this link.
