October 18, 2011 - 0 Comments

Each year, EDUCAUSE surveys IT leaders in higher education to compile a list of Top 10 IT Issues. These issues will be top of mind at EDUCAUSE 2011, which is taking place this year in Philadelphia. Please visit us at booth 1227 to speak directly with Cisco subject matter experts and discuss how Cisco solutions solutions can help you improve student outcomes, increase efficiency, enhance safety and security, and expand research capabilities.

Here’s a summary of the demonstrations that will be featured in our booth.

Straight from Cisco Live: Global learning though collaboration

Visit Cisco´s Architecture Experience theater and learn how Cisco´s collaboration solutions can enable both Personal AND Pervasive interactions with a global audience. Video-enabled collaboration, at anytime, on any device, allows experts to share participatory experiences. This demo integrates several Cisco collaboration and video technologies, including WebEx, TelePresence, the Cius Tablet, SMART Podium, Show and Share and Quad.

Digital Media & Lecture Capture

We´ll demonstrate how to record lectures and other educational content using the Cisco TelePresence Content Server. The Cisco Media Experience Engine (MXE) converts the content for display on a variety of devices, including smartphones and digital signs. The video is posted to the school´s secure Show and Share site, where it can be viewed and discussed online, 24×7. Digital signs throughout the school can display academic and administrative info, emergency broadcasts, and more

Video Conferencing/TelePresence:

Integrate video conferencing with interactive white boards using the Tandberg Synch solution. Bring outside experts and guest speakers into the classroom via video. Save time, money and energy by conducting administrative meetings or staff training via video

Virtual Desktop Solutions:

Cisco Desktop Virtualization solutions combine best-in-class Cisco and partner products, service offerings, and best practices into an end-to-end solution that lets you:

  • Improve student-to-computer ratio and enrich the learning experience
  • Respond more swiftly to teacher technology/software requests
  • Reduce computer repair and re-imaging costs to free up resources
  • Increase administrative control and data security in your school

WebEx Web Conferencing & Collaboration:

See how WebEx can help promote dynamic learning opportunities and improve collaboration. Interact with students more efficiently and cost-effectively, train faculty and staff across geographical boundaries, and provide shared workspaces using WebEx applications specialized to meet your needs. Mobile web conferencing – meet from anywhere with WebEx on your iPhone, iPad or Android phone.. Schedule, host, and attend meetings on the go. Meet face-to-face with new 2-way group video.

Mobility and Wireless

We´ll demonstrate how Cisco´s 802.11n solution offers superior wireless performance and reliability with simplified deployment, providing up to five times the throughput of current 802.11a/b/g networks. This integrated solution helps schools deliver high performance throughput in challenging RF environments and support high-bandwidth applications for students, faculty, staff and security personnel.

Unified Compute System –

Cisco demo at the CDW/G booth (# 1411)
We´ll demonstrate Cisco UCS, the industry’s first converged data center platform, and show how it:

  • Integrates server, network, and I/O resources into a single converged system
  • Improves enterprise application availability and performance
  • Scales service delivery to increase business agility
  • Streamlines data center resources to reduce total cost of ownership
  • Radically reduces the number of devices requiring setup, management, power, cooling, and cabling
