Lots Happening at Citrix Synergy, San Francisco
There’s lots of activity at Cisco right now leading up to Citrix Synergy in San Francisco next week. Our theme for the event is the ongoing collaboration with Citrix on Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI)
Both companies have been busy since last September, when we launched our first desktop virtualization solution with Citrix resulting in high levels of interest from both customers and mutual partners. This Cisco UCS solution delivers one of the most scalable XenDesktop platforms on the market as verified in a recent report published by Principled Technologies and has been chosen as a Citrix Ready Partner Solution of the Year Finalist .
In January we published another Cisco Validated Design (CVD) for XenDesktop and XenApp on Microsoft Hyper-V to add to the existing designs with VMware vSphere and Citrix XenServer.
More recently we began shipping our first VXC zero clients with Citrix ICA support. And for the growing number of mobile users that need their desktop and collaboration services with them wherever they go – there is the Cisco Cius business tablet with Citrix Receiver support.
Perhaps most interesting and valuable from a big picture perspective is the considerable engineering and validation work we are doing together with Citrix, VMware, EMC, NetApp and many other partners to build out the Cisco VXI system and solutions roadmap. For a perspective check out the excellent “Wow to How” blog on VXI by partner MTM’s Richard Brumpton.
More specifically, based on design and testing work with Citrix, we published the latest end-to-end system level CVD for Cisco VXI with Citrix XenDesktop, supporting XD 5.0 and XenApp 6. This CVD goes a long way to easing the deployment of XenDesktop virtual desktops, together with Cisco Unified Communications and Collaboration services, taking into account key aspects of such a deployment. For example how do you ensure end-to-end availability, harden for security, increase data center efficiency and of course optimize for user experience.
So look us up next week at Citrix Synergy in San Francisco. Try out the VXI technologies in our booth (# 306) and at the “Transformation Lab”, attend the Cisco panel and sessions and ask your account manager to set up a private VXI briefing or show and tell session. Finally, relax with your colleagues at the Cisco and Citrix Synergy Shindig Party on Wednesday evening where you could find yourself walking home with a Cisco Umi Home Telepresence System. See you there…..
