Cisco Invited to Microsoft Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track Program

This guest post is presented by Rex Backman, Global Marketing Manager for Microsoft Solutions, Cisco,

Cisco is very pleased to announce that Microsoft has invited us to be part of their Hyper-V Cloud Fast Track program.  This is great news for our customers and partners as it will allow for Cisco UCS based server infrastructures for Windows Server 2008 R2 based private cloud deployments.

Our offerings here, which we will develop over the next several months, will combine Cisco server and networking assets with Microsoft software based on Windows Server 2008 R2, Hyper-V, and System Center; consolidated guidance from Cisco; and Microsoft validated Cisco UCS based configurations.

We’re off to a fast start here, too (no pun intended) as our storage partner NetApp has announced their Hyper-V Cloud offer today at Microsoft Tech Ed North America in Atlanta. The compute layer of their offer is based on Cisco UCS. You can read more about NetApp’s Fast Track offer here.

Choice is always good and here you are seeing more options available to you for your virtualization and private cloud platforms. Our UCS server family provides a great opportunity to support your emerging private cloud needs. With cloud configurations you expect scalability, elasticity, manageability, and self –service capabilities to be baked in to the system. UCS features such as our UCS Manager for consolidated management (with System Center integration), Unified Fabric for I/O scalability and hardware abstraction via our stateless computing features help to meet and exceed your cloud demands. Check out the UCS and other Cisco data center capabilities here. Stay tuned!
