Cisco EMC VSPEX for VMware V250…CVD is published!

October 5, 2012 - 4 Comments

The Cisco Validated Design for VSPEX on VMware Architectures (V250) has been published!

This is a NEW document, and third in the series of CVD’s, for VSPEX and the first centered on the UCS B series server.  The CVD provides the end-to-end solution with VMware vSphere 5.0 for 250 Virtual Machines.  Here is a high level picture of the architecture.

The Cisco EMC VSPEX solution is based upon the best-of-breed technologies including Cisco UCS B series, Cisco Nexus 5548, and EMC VNX 5500 storage.

  1. Thank you for publishing and thank you and the team for their hard work putting these CVD’s together!

One question, though. Why would you use the 2104XP FEX’s with 6200 series FI’s and VIC1240’s? That seems like an obvious error and prevents the customer from taking advantage of all the Gen2 hardware features.

    • Adam, thanks for the question and the close read of the doc. This is an editorial mistake. It should be read as 2204 not as 2104. I have alerted the BU on this and they will make the change and publish a revision.

  2. …Congratulations…for many years I had been using VMware products, and is good to know what Cisco provides in this arena…thanks for sharing it…regards from PR…

    • Dr Wong, thank you for taking the time to reply. Cisco and EMC are working very hard together to bring relevant VSPEX solutions to market that have been validated and tested.
