3 Paths to the Cloud (Workspace)!
I’ve been spending the last couple weeks with friends from EMC, discussing what’s top of mind re: desktop virtualization and capabilities that we agree are effectively attacking the elusive ROI of virtual desktops. So it’s no surprise that when you put Cisco and EMC solutions together, (something we’ve done well, for a LONG time) towards the common goal of making virtual desktops and applications easier to deploy, with reduced cost and improved manageability, you end up with a very compelling end-to-end offer.
Essentially, our joint value nets-out as follows: i) enabling implementers to balance costs, while meeting SLA’s, ii) making virtual desktops less complex and time-consuming , especially where rapid provisioning and recovery is key, and iii) addressing the desktop management equation with a simplified approach that eliminates what used to be multiple tools
In these areas EMC and Cisco are offering an industry-leading platform with best-in-class desktop hosting density and performance, engineered solutions that absorb I/O storms and dramatically improve boot times, rapid provisioning of server infrastructure using service profile templates and self-service data recovery, and simplified desktop creation with automated deployment capabilities.
But what makes this joint offer unique is not just the end product, but how you can get there. We call this 3 Paths to the Cloud – or maybe more appropriately, 3 Paths to the Cloud Workspace. It breaks down like this:
- For organizations that want a converged infrastructure approach that accelerates their time to desktops-in-service, they can deploy turnkey VCE Vblock Systems, including the Vblock FastPath Desktop Virtualization Platform – offering pre-engineered, pre-integrated infrastructure packaging, in a modular, extensible format that grows as your desktop footprint grows.
- For organizations that need greater ability to customize, but still need the assurance of proven data center infrastructure, backed with validation testing and future-proofing of your technology investment, there’s EMC VSPEX.
- And for those that want complete architectural flexibility and choice, underpinned by best of breed componentry they can always turn to Cisco and EMC reference architectures and validated designs (ex: Cisco CVD’s).
These 3 paths enable you to choose the consumption model and implementation approach that maps best to your in-house expertise and need for flexibility and choice.
Want to hear more about “3 Paths to the Cloud Workspace”? We recently recorded a session with Cisco’s own Dominick Delfino and EMC’s Wade O’Harrow, and moderator Rob Enderle. Dominick and Wade were not shy about sharing perspectives on the state of virtual desktops, the EMC/Cisco partnership, and some great personal anecdotes around the technology.
