Strong Businesses are Built on Solid Recordkeeping
We are proud to announce that Cisco received the 2011 Cobalt Award for Excellence in Records and Information Management, given by ARMA International on October 17, 2011.
Before you stifle a yawn, consider this: Sound records and information management means that employees up and down the corporate ladder follow consistent policies and procedures. This translates into strict compliance with laws and regulations and contributes to overall organizational success. And it gives shareholders, customers, regulators, and employees confidence.
Years ago, Cisco began investing in compliance, ethics, and other controls necessary to assure we follow the law and never take shortcuts. This is just one component of our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Cobalt Award is meant to recognize the cultural shift a company makes when embracing a compliant, structured approach to records and information governance. It is rewarding to be recognized for our efforts in this area.
The judges said they were impressed by Cisco’s electronic records program, which is made possible by our own network expertise. According to ARMA International, “Cisco certainly understands the rapid growth of information within an enterprise and they seem to be managing it well.”
The judging panel looked for clear indicators of top management support, organization-wide collaboration, solid records management practices, integrated and effective technology use, well-defined training programs for all staff, and appropriate risk management and compliance measures.
The Cobalt Award is one of more than 20 awards and recognitions Cisco has received this year for its efforts to be a good corporate citizen and to provide long-term benefits to employees, customers, shareholders, the environment, and individuals around the world.
