Collaboration is Hot … Very Hot: a report from Enterprise 2.0
Coming to you live from beautiful Boston at Enterprise 2.0 – the premier conference for enterprise social software – where the weather is gorgeous. Take it from me – Mike’s Pastry is the best place in the world for homemade cannolis!
It’s fun to back in my home town. But even better, it is very satisfying to meet with customers and get their reaction to Cisco’s collaboration strategy. I’m pleased to report that our interactions with customers, analysts and news media have really validated Cisco’s strategic direction for our enterprise social software platform and Cisco Quad. Our strategy of integrating architecture solutions that are interoperable is really resonating with customers.
In my session, “Integrating the Workforce Experience: Six Steps to Sustainable Business Value,” I received a lot of questions about our collaboration journey – specifically adoption, usage, how we communicate internally, process for roll-out and our six steps to deployment. It was well-received. Customers are hungry for details on adoption, what works and what doesn’t. Our collaboration business value at Cisco has also become clearer – we shared a draft of Cisco’s collaboration ‘book of business value,’ which pleased the audience! Once it’s finalized, we’ll be able to share a more comprehensive story.
Press and analysts have also been generally positive on Cisco’s strategy. They’ve told us we just need to move faster. Absolutely true! And this supports what we are saying internally at Cisco.
So, overall, the mood has been upbeat and positive – the Tweets have been impressive! In terms of collaboration, it is no longer a question of IF companies should deploy collaboration and social software technologies but rather HOW and what is the process for deployment FAST.
Customers are interested in motivating their teams towards adoption, how to deploy and the associated business value that comes with collaboration. It’s really a significant change – the conversation has completed shifted from one year ago.
And, if you haven’t heard, we announced today that Cisco and select partners are extending Quad’s reach with a new hosted deployment model. This new offering will be delivered initially in the United States and Canada through ACS (a Xerox company), in Europe through Logicalis UK, and in Australia through Alphawest. The overall positive coverage has included editorial pieces in top media outlets including Information Week, CRN and eWeek.
