Global Correlation for IPS

Don’t just tell me something went wrong…go ahead and stop it. This is the dream condition for security technology and although it sounds simple in theory, it is a minefield for actual execution. The primary reason that automated prevention technologies have never gone mainstream is because the threat is so dynamic. Nobody wants a computer to shut down critical communication because it ‘thinks’ it identified something malicious. Confidence becomes the overriding qualification here and this is only achieved through consistent success. I personally love the innovation that IronPort has brought to Cisco and it is VERY cool to see this spreading into our more traditional technologies as well. The idea that your company does not need to be a locked down silo attempting to accurately identify new dynamic threats is a powerful one indeed. Mei Huang is an old friend of TechWiseTV and she gave Jimmy Ray the lowdown on our new Global Correllation for IPS that was featured recently at the RSA Security Conference.
