Catherine (Kate) Pearce

Catherine (Kate) Pearce is a customer-focused security consultant within the Internet of Everything Team in Cisco Security Solutions (CSS).

The IoE team helps organisations to understand the security risks around their networked devices, no matter what form they come in, purpose they serve, or technologies they use. In her role, she assists customers in their security decision making by providing security assessments against their software and infrastructure, and also working hands-on with development teams to produce resilient systems in a repeatable way.

Catherine is very passionate about presenting at security events and supporting women in technology through mentorship and training.

Catherine holds a Bsc and Msc in Computer Science, and a PgDipSci in Computer Security and Forensics from the University of Canterbury. She has published work on the security of Multipath technologies, authentication, secure web gateways, biological metaphors for security, and more.

She has spoken at a very large number of security conferences including BlackHat USA, Source Boston, Nolacon, APRICOT, ACSC, Kiwicon, and several different Bsides Events.

Kate lives in Vibrant Wellington, New Zealand with her partner and cat.
