Cisco Introduces Global Cloud Index

November 29, 2011 - 1 Comment

Cisco today announced its inaugural Global Cloud Index (2010-2015)— research that forecasts, among other topics, that Global Cloud Computing Traffic will Reach 1.6 Zettabytes by 2015 and Global Cloud Traffic Will Exceed One-Third of All Data Center Traffic by 2015. This analysis was undertaken by the same team that presents the Visual Networking Index (VNI).

The Cisco Global Cloud Index was developed to estimate global data center and cloud-based Internet Protocol traffic growth and trends. As the network and data center are becoming intrinsically linked in the delivery of cloud services, this study complements existing network traffic studies to provide new insights and visibility into the emerging trends affecting data center and cloud architectures.

  1. II'd like to know how you measure "cloud" traffic. Arguably almost all traffic today is "cloud", either private or public. We seem to hyped all client server traffic into the cloud category. That being the case, your numbers seem low.
