Public Sector BYOD Series: Streamline IT for a Mobile-Ready Work Strategy
For this week’s final Public Sector BYOD Thursday post, I wanted to discuss a survey that illustrated what employees want and need when it comes to IT in the workplace:
- Control over the work experience—the ability to use technology to personal preference, in ways that improve productivity and enhance job satisfaction.
- Choice when it comes to devices and the ability to use preferred, personally owned devices to complete work-related tasks.
- Flexibility to perform personal activities at work and work activities on personal time.
- Mobility that enables anytime, anywhere connections to colleagues, customers and partners.
It’s with these findings in mind that Cisco developed a unified communications strategy that benefits governments, universities, schools and other public organizations—institutions whose employees also require a cutting-edge level of connectivity.
Cisco Unified Workspace combines end-to-end IT architecture that helps streamline IT processes and supports mobile-ready communications strategies. These solutions include cross-architecture platforms for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), desktop virtualization and mobile collaboration.
Just as we worked to satisfy employees’ workplace technology desires, we also aim to address their concerns. Surveyed employees revealed reservations about ensuring data security and business continuity when implementing programs such as BYOD, along with doubts about being able to obtain sufficient IT support. We’ve purposely designed our “Unified Workplace” solutions to include network-based security. It’s meant to integrate seamlessly with existing software and hardware in order to prevent business interruptions during implementation and avoid the need for constant access to IT experts and information.
In conclusion to this series, we hope we succeeded in sharing with you our vision of today’s ideal, entirely mobile workplace. We look forward to helping you better serve your populations through enhanced communications that keep the public informed, protected, educated and engaged. With Cisco’s Unified Workspace, we are enabling a mobile workspace that makes the people doing the hard work happy and satisfied, too.
*Cisco is also currently on the road talking about all things BYOD. Find out if it’s coming to a city near you.Tags:
