Annual Report: Frugal, Stylish and Enjoyable

To be completely honest, I don’t usually spend much time on companies’ annual report web areas. But I’m making an exception for the new Cisco Annual Report—I’m really pleased with the online format, which is really elegant.

Not only that, this page was less trouble and expense for us to produce this year because we used standard web components and a straightforward approach to the content.

Enjoy!

If I see one more “great new web page design” this week that requires me to horizontally scroll my perfectly-normally-sized (i.e. not maximised) browser window on my perfectly-normally-sized (1440x900) desktop, I swear I’ll strangle someone.

Whatever happened to fluid web design?  With people looking at web pages on a wider range of screen sizes than ever, from iPhones to 30” cinema displays, it still ought to be the first requirement on the list.

Hmmm… our standard pages (like this one) are only 908 pixels wide, which is actually narrower than the industry norm.  Are you seeing a horizontal scrollbar on this page?

Wider is better someone says but it doesnt have to be fluid.
