Medianet Heating Up Russia

Cisco won the Breakthrough Technology award in the Business video category from Open Systems magazine. Open Systems magazine is a leading and one of the oldest periodical editions in Russia, devoted to complex IT infrastructure and information technologies. Cisco was recognized for its medianet innovation.

According to Open Systems magazine, the business video market is growing at 20% annually in Russia, compared to a 5.8% growth worldwide. The magazine acknowledged Cisco impressive portfolio of telepresence and videoconferencing solutions. Medianet was chosen for its unique ability to enhance the video experience. Medianet is a set of technologies that allow endpoints to be setup automatically without human intervention. It has an embedded diagnostics capability that can be dynamically activated to collect diagnostics information about the session and the network. It also has capabilities to manage the bandwidth allocation and prioritize media sessions based on the importance of the business. For the first time in videoconferencing, a set of standards and protocols are developed to seamlessly tie video endpoints and the network together to deliver the best possible video and audio quality.
