WebEx Recordings are Good for Business

August 9, 2012 at 7:00 am PST

Use the new, free version of WebEx Meetings to promote your business to the WebEx network (click in and see how many people are using WebEx right now)!

All you need to do is record your WebEx and publish it to WebEx Channels. It’s easy!

With a free, WebEx Basic Account, create an online recording of anything that can help your business:

  • use video via your webcam to provide a product demo
  • share slides via desktop sharing to review a sales presentation
  • a combination of both to provide a behind-the-scenes look at your business

Then, once your WebEx is recorded, post it to WebEx Channels, our online library of content on almost any topic! WebEx Channels is available to everyone and will help increase the chances of your content being picked up by search engines. It’s also a great way to host your content that’s fast and easy and doesn’t require touching your existing website.

A Story of Survival: Cisco’s Brian Dickinson Conquered Mt. Everest

May 15, 2012 at 1:55 pm PST

One year ago, I waited anxiously with my teammates Ray Bellantoni and Jennifer Carole to get word on our new friend – and Cisco colleague – Brian Dickinson. He was ascending Mt Everest.

Brian had contacted us about doing a WebEx from base camp. He thought it would be cool to put our technology to the test and Ray, who produced events, jumped at the opportunity.

Little did we realize Brian would become a friend we cared about in a very personal way. As we learned more about his journey, we started to understand the dangers involved in the climb and the risks to his safety. It was a nerve-wracking time.

Brian’s over all goal, to reach the Seven Summits around the world – with Mt Everest possibly posing the greatest challenge. We ended up holding three WebEx events with Brian where many of you joined us to learn about his commitment and drive.

Before, During and After the Climb

For me, the most exhilarating WebEx was the one he did from base camp. To see him nestled in the mountain tops, glistening white in the background, was thrilling. At one point, we had to pause while we waited for a helicopter to fly out carrying climbers who had succumbed to altitude sickness.

As it turns out there was good reason for us to feel anxious that day. Read More »

Steve Wozniak Believes in Education and Creativity

April 30, 2012 at 8:09 am PST

Steve Wozniak gets excited about education.

He recorded a fantastic talk via WebEx about his experiences getting kids excited about technology in education. His enthusiasm is contagious as he passionately discusses the results of his efforts.

Woz, as he is affectionately known, is a huge supporter of teachers and education. He speaks of his great experiences in school as a child and his incredible respect for his teachers and the schools that he attended.

He acknowledges that testing has its problems, that it’s not as powerful as a subjective judgment. He’d rather see a way to evaluate students that takes into account the individual and his or her talents and needs.
