Giving to Cisco’s Be the Bridge Campaign through Book Sales

I love working at Cisco.

It’s a company that cares deeply about its customers and its employees, and most importantly, cares about giving back to the community. I’m proud to be part of an organization that has helped raise more than $40 million and deliver nearly 160 million meals over the past 15 years as part of its Global Hunger Relief efforts.

When I was considering giving a portion of my latest book’s profits to charity, I stumbled across a post about Cisco’s Be the Bridge campaign. This is Cisco’s latest employee giving initiative, which supports more than 400 nonprofits and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide through employee donations, volunteerism, and matching from the Cisco Foundation.

I was pleased to find out that Cisco would match my donation, dollar for dollar. This means that I can easily double the total amount I can donate to charity, all because I’m a Cisco employee. Be the Bridge, Change a Life

Every day, we have the opportunity to make the world a better a place. Here at Cisco, we take that opportunity to heart and find ways to multiply the impact we can make. For the past 15 years, Cisco has helped raise more than $40 million and deliver nearly 160 million meals as part of its global hunger relief efforts. This year, we created a new employee giving program that empowers employees to provide direct aid to those with uncertain access to life’s necessities—to “Be the Bridge” for those in need.

As part of this more expansive initiative, we’ve set up partnerships with more than 400 nonprofit organizations in 99 cities and 33 countries around the world that provide not only food, but shelter, water access, nutrition, and emergency care to those most vulnerable, globally and locally. Employees can give to global organizations such as Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, Water for People, Red Cross International, or CARE; or give to a homeless shelter, food kitchen, or emergency care organization in their local communities, just to name a few. And Cisco is matching any donation of US$50 up to US$10,000 to double the impact.

Cisco’s Be the Bridge Campaign Empowers Employees to Change the World

For the past 15 years, Cisco’s helped raise more than $40 million and deliver nearly 160 million meals as part of its global hunger relief efforts. We’ve changed millions of lives, and now, we’re expanding our impact beyond the global hunger crisis. Every day, a lack of shelter, access to clean water, and malnutrition cripple underserved communities. Things we take for granted, like the roof over our heads or a simple bottle of water, are a luxury to millions of underserved people around the world. Fortunately, you and I can make a difference, starting today.

As part of Cisco’s new Be the Bridge campaign, employees can support social issues that are important to them or their communities. The campaign, which launched earlier this week, empowers employees to “Be the Bridge” for those in need by providing direct aid to people with uncertain access to life’s necessities. Between now and December 18, Cisco will match employee donations of US$50 or more to over 400 eligible non-profit organizations in 15 different regions around the world.

To kick off the campaign, Cisco campuses in San Jose, India, Texas, and North Carolina hosted volunteer events, where hundreds of employees came together in a collective effort to “Be the Bridge” and create social change.

Cisco China Embraces Cisco’s Giving Back Philosophy

Cisco has always followed a philosophy of giving back to the community, and in recent years, Cisco China has participated in various community and volunteer programs including: Hands on Shanghai (HOS), River of Hearts (ROH), One Heart Gift Bag, Hiking for One Egg, etc. Giving makes a difference, and with lots of love and warm hearts, “Helping Others” is not just a slogan at Cisco, but a way of life for all Cisco employees.

This summer, prior to the Dragon Boat Festival, the Greater China Talent Acquisition Team participated in a volunteer program which was organized by “Green Food Bank” NGO. We delivered Festival greetings and food to those elderly and poverty-stricken families in Tang Qiao community, Shanghai of China. We were extremely excited to take part in this event!

This Give Back Day was part of a global initiative, where the Talent Acquisition team as a whole volunteered all on the same day.

Cisco is a pioneer in Giving Back and we are dedicated to the cause. We are connecting the unconnected with our technologies and products, and we also link with people by our love. Previously we did, at present we are doing and in the future we will do it better.

Cisco Volunteers, CyberPatriot Inspire Students to Pursue Cybersecurity Careers

Last week, 60 middle and high school students gathered at Cisco campuses in Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC and Richardson, TX for a special cybersecurity camp being offered for the first time by CyberPatriot, the Air Force Association’s national youth cyber education program.

The camp gave students who had little to no cybersecurity experience an opportunity to learn more about cybersecurity and how to safely use the Internet. The students completed the 20-hour curriculum over four days, and on the fifth day, took part in a mock competition similar to the one held at the CyberPatriot National Finals each year in Washington, D.C. It is our hope that this experience will inspire these students to join the CyberPatriot program and ultimately pursue science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and careers. A total of 24 CyberPatriot Camps were offered across the country.
