Mobile data traffic worldwide will increase 13 times by 2017.  That’s from the latest Cisco VNI Mobile Data Forecast Update, 2012-2017 released in early February. (For a quick recap, check out Thomas Barnett’s blog post and infographic.)

Empowering Rural Health Workers with Mobile Video

State-of-the-art broadband services still don’t reach many parts of the African continent, especially rural villages. But one consumer technology is pervasive: cell phones.

According to the Cisco VNI Service Adoption Forecast, there will be 1.3 billion consumer mobile devices across the Middle East and Africa by 2016 – a billion of them being basic feature phones, not smartphones. At the same time, mobile video is expected to be the fastest-growing service in the region, with 184 million users projected by 2016.

Video Calling: The Case for Interoperability – Part 2

Video in the workplace has never been more important.  As we continue to use new communication technologies in the office to interact on the job and at home to achieve a greater work life balance, video calling is a large part of our increasingly productive lives.  Businesses are improving collaboration between workers, building client relationships, and reducing travel with video calling.  In fact, according to Cisco’s most recent VNI study, the global market for business video conferencing will reach $14 billion by 2017.
