Virtual Symposium: Virtual Machine Networking

July 20, 2012 at 8:52 am PST

I am happy to announce another Virtual Symposium, this time on the topic of virtual machine networking.  We will be holding it on July 25th from 9am to 10am Pacifc Time.

Beyond our usual panel of Greg Ferro, Steven Foskett, Ivan Pepelnjak and yours truly, we will be joined on the panel by Marko Milivojevic (@icemarkom), David Davis (@davidmdavis) and perhaps a couple of other folks.

We have settled on the 60 min format.  The panel will share some initial thoughts, but we will devote most of the time to answering questions from the audience, either through the WebEx Q&A tool or via the #VirtSyn tag.

To register, go here.

See you there.

Save the Date: New Virtual Symposia Coming Soon

June 27, 2012 at 10:55 am PST

I am happy to announce we have a couple of new Virtual Symposia on the books.  We had a ton of positive feedback on the storage session, so I hope you can join us for the two new sessions:

  • July 10th, 8am PT -- Software Defined Networking
  • July 24th, 8am PT -- Virtual Machine Networking

As before, it will be Greg Ferro, Stephen Foskett and Ivan Pepelnjak along with some smart, cool panelists in a round table format, answering your questions. The one change we made was to shorten the session down to one hour so its a bit more friendly to your schedule. Save the dates for now and we’ll have registration pages up in a couple of days.

Captain’s log, October 27, 2011:

The USS Cisco took off for the Gestalt IT Networking Tech Field Day 2 with Captain Omar Sultan (see picture below, courtesy of techfieldday.com), Data Center Solutions Sr. Marketing Manager, at the helm. Tech Field Day networking industry experts gathered on the bridge, cleverly disguised as the Cisco Cloud Innovation Center (CICC) Lab, for an informal, no-holds-barred conversation on recent Nexus portfolio announcements, the continued march towards automated provisioning of cloud services and ever-evolving VM networking technologies.

For those who weren’t at the event or haven’t seen the video recording yet, please excuse my unabashed geekiness, but you’ll have to watch the first minute of the video to get the above reference. As a new member of the Data Center Solutions Marketing team, this is also my first foray into the Cisco blog-o-sphere, so I hope to share some fresh viewpoints on the day’s events.

Several things were made very apparent during the Tech Field Day session:
