How-To Video’s on Demand

November 7, 2014 at 11:54 am PST

Hello all,

I hope everyone’s week has been a fruitful one.

Alike many product teams, ours sometimes have a tendency sometimes to keep a large amount of focus churning out new products with all of the features and performance characteristics our customers want in quality networking products.

While one of our product traits is #useability, we all know, there are features that are perhaps not as straightforward to the layman, small business owners, even though these savvy folks understand the need to use these features for their businesses to be successful.

So in that spirit, we have assembled a team of young, bright individuals and challenged them with an aggressive list of topics. The first of these topics is an informative yet light video-on-demand on Quick VPN configuration tips for some of my RV Series router models. Configuring VPN’s, even though it sounds exciting (yes that is a joke), is not always straightforward, so this video should be very helpful for many.

I would like to introduce you to Ruben:

I also wanted to pass along two Cisco Small Business Links that house a set of VoD’s that are a little more technical in nature that our team in Greenville has produced for topics such as Configuring VLAN’s on the RV320 and RV325 and setting up multiple types of VPN’s on RV130, RV320, RV325 and others. These again are little more technical in nature, but very informative and helpful in getting your Small Business Networking configured as needed.

Here is the Cisco Small Business YouTube Page.

And here is the Cisco Small Business Vimeo Page.

Make it a great day.

Marc

International Security Demands 100% Network Uptime

Nuclear security is a high priority international threat today. The Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) 2014 took place in The Hague, the Netherlands, following the summits in Washington D.C (2010) and Seoul (2012).

NSS 2014

Network Requirements:

An event of this magnitude required nothing but the best network solution. The venue had existing small networks across 5 buildings and 4 tents. They decided to disable the existing networks and setup a comprehensive Cisco network solution exclusively for this event. The major requirements were: Read More »

3 Steps for Best-in-Class Wi-Fi

If you are a professional photographer or even an amateur like me, you want to have ready access to various control dials on your camera to capture the moment perfectly. Professional cameras provide high level of control to get the best outcome. But there are times when you want to put the camera and the lens in Auto mode or wish that the camera could automate some decisions that make your workflow easier.

Likewise, Cisco Wireless LAN products provides the level of quality, functionality and control that is unmatched and hands-down the best enterprise wireless networking portfolio in the industry. But there are scenarios where it is preferable to expedite wireless configuration with best practices automatically enabled and easy access to data to simplify monitoring and troubleshooting workflow. For example, a small business owner manages his own network or in a K-12 a librarian acting like a part-time IT administrator. This not only provides operational efficiencies for the IT organization but also improves end-user and partner experience.

Cisco WLAN Express Setup is an attempt in this direction. It is now available on 2500 Series Controller (CT2504) starting with software release 7.6.120.0.

It includes three components

  • Easy-to-use setup wizard: This eliminates the need for console cable and command line setup. Instead, 3-step web-wizard is used to quickly boot strap a Controller and configure employee and Guest WLAN out of the box.

By 2018, there will be more than 10 billion mobile-ready devices and connections. The average mobile connection speed will nearly double, from 1.4 Mbps in 2013 to 2.5 Mbps and over 4.9 billion devices will be IPv6-capable.
