7 Questions to Ask Before Launching a Social Media Program

September 13, 2012 at 1:15 pm PST
Success can come in many forms. Three very different success stories. Listen to the replay for details.

This week, Partner Velocity (Cisco’s program to help partners’ marketing efforts) held a one-hour webcast to help you get started with social media.

It’s a topic near and dear to my heart, so I led the webcast and provided some guidance for beginners and more advanced practitioners, tips, and tricks to help launch a social media presence.

If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry as there’s a replay available. Be sure to listen to this replay and attend the next two webinars in the series: you’ll be entered to win a US$2500 marketing consultation.

Head to the Partner Velocity site for details, and to register for the next two sessions (Social Media for Events and Creating an Integrated Campaign).

Here’s a quick recap of the topics covered in this week’s session “Building a Successful Social Media Program”:

  • How to develop a listening strategy
  • How to define and segment your audience (and create content for each persona)
  • Tips and tricks for engaging with your audience
  • Ways to design a measurement/metrics plan
  • And finally, some key takeaways and next steps

Cisco Partner Marketing Update: Priorities, Campaigns, Social Media, and More

November 21, 2011 at 10:29 pm PST

Last week, we held a TweetChat with Cisco’s new Global Partner Marketing VP Amanda Jobbins.

During the hour-long Twitter session, we covered a lot of ground--Amanda’s Partner Marketing priorities, new campaigns for partners, what she heard on her listening tour with partners, and ways that Cisco is helping partners use social media.

We also learned some interesting factoids about Amanda and how she’s adjusting to life in the United States after living in the U.K.

If you missed the chat, we’ve got a recap of what was discussed, including Amanda’s answers to some great audience questions. This is the first of many discussions Amanda plans to have with partners and wants to continue the dialog to ensure that marketing programs reflect what partners need. You can send along questions and comments to her directly @amandajobbins.

We started the chat off with a few interview questions for Amanda to warm up, then answered audience questions:

Q1: What are your key priorities for Cisco Partner Marketing?

@amandajobbins: I have 5 goals: brand/value, online/social communities, marketing enablement, demand marketing, & ecosystem.

Two additional driving principles: communications & partner insight.

Q2: Cloud is the word on everyone’s lips…how are you helping partners market cloud? Read More »

Broadcast Recap: Tips for Collaboration, Igniting Performance, Sparking Creativity

November 16, 2011 at 11:00 am PST

What do air sandwiches, cogs, and boxes have in common?

Well, if you attended yesterday’s Virtual Partner Velocity broadcast, you’ll recognize that these are things that companies should avoid using if they want to be successful.

Cisco Vice President of Global Partner Marketing Amanda Jobbins kicked off the broadcast featuring author and business strategist Nilofer Merchant who shared actionable tips on how to ignite performance, spark creativity (versus making “stuff”), and humanize the people within organizations.

Nilofer also shared several examples of how companies create silos within their organizations causing huge gaps and lack of collaboration throughout. Don’t worry, she shared tips on how to close the gaps and collaborate effectively, whether you’re a CEO or just starting your career. Finally, Nilofer spent the second half of the broadcast answering questions that were tweeted in from the audience.
