Talking with customers in various segments, one common trend seems to be emerging for branch deployments: customers are trying to strike the right balance between 2 opposite ideals. On one side they want to deliver great user experience and drive employee productivity but on the other side they are being asked to reduce cost and operate more efficiently. It is becoming increasing challenging to strike this right balance, especially with newer technologies like virtualization, BYOD and Cloud.
This week, Partner Velocity (Cisco’s program to help partners’ marketing efforts) held a one-hour webcast to help you get started with social media.
It’s a topic near and dear to my heart, so I led the webcast and provided some guidance for beginners and more advanced practitioners, tips, and tricks to help launch a social media presence.

In my previous post, I described the “culture of innovation,” for which Bay Area companies have become renowned. And we looked, briefly, at what it could mean for the public sector.
It may come as something of a surprise that Bay Area companies are no more likely to follow a Technology Drivers innovation model than companies located elsewhere. Like many top innovators, companies in the Bay Area have not only found success in creating ground-breaking technologies, but they are almost twice as likely as other companies to have developed the capabilities needed to provide a superior understanding of the stated and unstated needs of their end customers.
