Earlier this year, Frost & Sullivan presented Cisco’s Internet Routing in Space (IRIS) with its 2012 Global Satellite Transponder Technology Innovation Award for unrivaled accomplishments in the satellite industry.
Cisco IRIS allows space and satellite communications to take full advantage of the value and capability of networking. It extends the benefits of the Internet Protocol (IP) to satellite communications, which have traditionally used proprietary protocols that are difficult to operate within conventional IP-based wireline and wireless networks.

FIPS-140 is a US and Canadian government standard that specifies security requirements for cryptographic modules. A cryptographic module is defined as “the set of hardware, software, and/or firmware that implements approved security functions (including cryptographic algorithms and key generation) and is contained within the cryptographic boundary.” The cryptographic module is what is being validated.

The 2012 Cisco Global Cloud Networking Survey, which includes participants from more than 1,300 IT decision makers in 13 countries, was commissioned to measure the adoption of cloud services by IT professionals globally, while examining potential challenges to their cloud migrations. Below, we take a deeper look at some of the positive, negative, and strange aspects to come out of the survey.
On the positive side, 73% of respondents felt they have enough information to begin their private or public cloud deployments. This leaves 27% who claim to feel more knowledgeable about how to play Angry Birds than the steps needed to migrate their company to the cloud. production service of the IRIS capabilities on

managed satellite services for government and commercial customer use, allowing organizations to reach multiple continents from a single connection to TCS’ network infrastructure.

Do you think hybrid clouds look like your granny’s network too? Well, that may be extreme, but there is no doubt that hybrid clouds are networked in ways we saw things connected a decade back. Consider a recent example I came across while discussing cloud adoption at a large global enterprise headquartered in the US. Their Asia office wanted to deploy a regional application for local use. It was impractical to deploy it at one of the two large data centers in the US since user experience would be sub-optimal due to latency issues.
