Early this year, ManageEngine successfully completed their second interoperability verification and testing (IVT) with medianet for its product NetFlow Analyzer through the medianet systems management Cisco Developer Network (CDN) program.
ManageEngine successfully completed the medianet IVT for NetFlow Analyzer in February 2012. NefFlow Analyzer supports the medianet features performance monitor and mediatrace.
NetFlow Analyzer leverages flow technologies to generate real-time traffic reports that help in getting visibility into the traffic patterns in the network. It provides:
- On-demand mediatrace poll for instant monitoring
- Threshold based alerts for key metrics
- Highly granular reports with extensive storage options

Next week will be a busy week for the medianet team! The team will be at Cisco Live 2012 in San Diego, Infocomm in Las Vegas and Cisco Expo in Israel. We will provide attendees with plenty of updates on the latest medianet technologies in Cisco Video &Collaboration Portfolio, and Cisco Routing & Switching Portfolio.
The team will be introducing the Medianet Media Awareness capability. Media Awareness is a collection of techniques to detect different types of endpoints, media and application types in order to deliver the optimal experience. Cisco switches and routers will be introducing the new Media Services Proxy and Flow Metadata features. Webex and Cisco Jabber will be introducing the new medianet-enabled client to enhance collaboration experience. This new “smart” client embedded with the Media Services Interface, works in conjunction with the “smart” network for optimal Quality of Experience, improved network visibility, quality assurance & quick problem isolation. If you are heading to San Diego, Las Vegas or Tel Aviv, stop by for a chat with Cisco technology experts on your video and network implementations.

Using well-known network attributes like IP address or TCP/UDP port numbers for application identification and network classification is a thing of the past. More and more applications are opaque (e.g. video streams) and increasingly, applications are encrypted making network classification a real challenge for enterprises.
Introducing Media Awareness
Medianet media awareness is a suite of technologies to detect different types of endpoints, media and application types in order to deliver the best experience. The network can try to figure it out (implicit), or the network can be told by the endpoint or applications (explicit).

Medianet integrates a smarter network with smarter endpoints to simplify the deployment and operation of various media and applications, and to enhance the quality of experience. You can find all you need to deploy medianet capabilities in the Medianet Knowledge Base, including a deployment guide which guides you step by step on how to deploy and use medianet capabilities.
But if you want to get your hands dirty and learn by doing we will have a fun lab (both for the student and proctors) in the next Cisco Live in San Diego. The lab is based on real physical equipment (routers, switches, MCUs, video surveillance cameras, etc.), video applications (Jabber for Windows, CP-9971 phones, Video Surveillance, WebEx and Digital Signage) and Network Management. You will get a chance to see a real working video enabled branch that they control and get an introduction to the many medianet features like performance monitor, mediatrace, IPSLA Video Operations, Auto Smart Ports, QoS, and now Media Services Interface (MSI), Flow Metadata and Media Services Proxy (MSP)!

A few weeks ago, ActionPacked! Networks successfully completed their second interoperability verification and testing (IVT) with medianet for its product LiveAction through the medianet systems management Cisco Developer Network (CDN) program.
LiveAction was one of the first medianet partners to successfully complete the medianet IVT in April 2011 when it provided support for the medianet features performance monitor as well as IPSLA Video Operations. In this latest IVT, the new version of LiveAction introduced support for the medianet mediatrace feature.
