Introducing the Next Generation Cisco Channel Partner Program

The Cisco Channel Partner Program has always focused on value versus volume, rewarding partners who create value, no matter their size or sales volume. The program has evolved over time to identify market transitions, enable our partners through these transitions and recognize partners for their practices. With major market transitions happening today, our channel partners have unique opportunities to once again evolve their business models and offer even more value to their customers, while at the same time, differentiating themselves and growing profitably.

To that end, today at the Cisco Partner Summit 2014, we are announcing the next generation of Cisco’s Channel Partner Program, which is a critical component of the Cisco Partner Ecosystem that Bruce Klein, SVP of Cisco’s Worldwide Partner Organization, is also unveiling today.

The next generation channel program will enable and reward partners for adopting new consumption models and reaching new buying centers, with an emphasis on solutions, hybrid IT, and architectures. Channel partners will see changes across Certifications, Specializations and Incentives. Partners will generally have 16-24 months to transition to the new requirements. Read More »

I can’t wait to meet many of you this year, and don’t forget, if you are not going to be in Las Vegas this year, there is still time to get registered for Virtual Partner Summit (VPS).

Also, here’s one quick note about the Partner Weekly Rewind blog. Since Partner Summit is next week, there will not be a Partner Weekly Rewind blog on March 28 or on April 4. Instead, we will have Partner Summit content for next Friday and on April 4, we will wrap up our Partner Summit coverage with an overall recap blog. The regular Partner Weekly Rewind will return on April 11. Read More »

Partner Voices: A Look Ahead to Cisco Partner Summit 2014

March 18, 2014 at 7:07 am PST

I spend a lot of time behind a keyboard for work. It’s not so bad. I get to work with incredibly smart and talented people at Cisco, and I certainly get to interact with some fabulous folks at our partner companies. Sometimes though, it is nice to meet people face-to-face, you know, like we all used to do.

I had that opportunity a few weeks ago at XChange Solution Provider in Los Angeles.  As I mentioned in my wrap-up for that week, I had the opportunity to have lunch in L.A. with Edison Peres, Sherri Liebo and numerous Cisco partners. I took advantage of the time to ask them about their thoughts on Cisco Partner Summit this year and what value they see in attending the event, or by participating through Virtual Partner Summit (VPS).

Partner Lunch XCHANGE

Lunch with Cisco Partners at XChange Solution Provider earlier this month.

I suppose it’s no surprise that the common theme I heard from all partners was that Partner Summit provides an opportunity to network. Much like I just mentioned, we often don’t get enough face-to-face time these days. Partners highly value the ability to meet with Cisco executives, and with other partners at Partner Summit. The idea exchange that happens each year at Partner Summit is phenomenal. The ability to make connections with other partners, while getting guidance on what Cisco has in store for the upcoming year is invaluable, according to the partners I spoke with.

The connection that is available to you via VPS is crucial as well. In fact, more than one partner I spoke with thought highly of VPS as a way to remain engaged at Partner Summit, even when unable to attend physically.

For example, Brad Cicero, Partner at Allied Technology Group, LLC, told me, “Networking is the most important part of being there for me, but when I can’t attend like this year, I really do try to watch all the sessions I can on VPS. I also know I can catch up on the sessions later if I do miss something.” Read More »

Cisco Partner Weekly Rewind – March 14, 2014

March 14, 2014 at 9:03 am PST

Each week, we’ll highlight the most important Cisco partner news and stories, as well as point you to important, Cisco-related partner content you may have missed along the way. Here’s what you might have missed this week:

We are getting really, really close to Cisco Partner Summit 2014. I have not started packing yet, but I will start planning that out soon. Oh never mind, who am I kidding? I am the world’s worst procrastinator when it comes to packing. I’ll probably still be stuffing things into my bag on the way to the airport.

Regardless of my lack of planning when it comes to what I’ll be wearing in Las Vegas, we have put together a great social media plan for our partners heading into this year’s Partner Summit. We have already shared with you our general kickoff information and the social media contests for this year. This week we have some more Partner Summit information for you, but first, let’s talk about the latest post from Richard McLeod. Read More »
