Cisco Partner Marketing Velocity Recap: Creating an Integrated Campaign

October 31, 2012 at 11:34 am PST

If you attended the first two sessions of Cisco’s Partner Marketing Velocity webinar series on social media-- Building a Successful Social Media Program and Social Media Events Experience—you’re  probably thinking you have everything you need to conquer the world of social media.

But before you set off on your quest, take note. Making social media part of a larger effort, such as a specific company initiative, ensures greater success. In fact, if you tie social media into all of the moving parts of your company’s business strategy, then it has a much better chance of resonating with your audience.

In the third session of the webinar series—Creating an Integrated Campaign—I discussed this very issue, sharing the benefits of using an integrated rather than siloed approach. I also gave examples of how Cisco has integrated social media into its campaign strategy and recommended best practices for creating an integrated social media campaign.

Cisco Partner Velocity: How to Create a Social Media Events Strategy

October 9, 2012 at 9:43 am PST

Why be social at events in the first place? I mean, don’t you have enough to do already?

In the second in Cisco’s Partner Velocity webinar series on social media, I covered social media’s role at events and how you can use it to achieve your goals, whether you’re looking to generate leads, drive attendees to your booth, or increase share of voice.

Creating an end-to-end events strategy means setting reasonable goals, using social listening to hear what people are saying, asking the right questions, creating an editorial calendar, and setting a cadence of activities leading up to and during your event. I shared how to build that as well as general social best practices and ways to encourage participation.

So for those who are dubious about this whole social media thing, there are quite a few benefits to creating a social strategy for your next event. Using Twitter, Facebook, your blog, and LinkedIn can help you bring customers to your booth, drive sales, increase interest in what you do, and get people talking about your company.

So how does it work? And how can you win a consultation worth US$2500 to help you get your social efforts off the ground? Read More »

Cisco’s 8 New Year’s Resolution for Partners

January 4, 2012 at 3:23 pm PST

Happy 2012, partners! Inspired by Channel Maven’s lively list of resolutions, I began to pontificate on Cisco’s new year’s resolutions for partners this year.

1. First and foremost: profitability.

C’mon, who doesn’t want more profits in 2012? Services now represent 40-50% of Cisco channel partners business, up from 20% five years ago. Our recently created Services Rules of Engagement offers partners a definitive roadmap on how to engage with Cisco Services and maximize your Cisco services investment.

Plus profitability programs like Cisco’s Value Incentive Program (VIP) ensure that you’re rewarded for focusing your practice on Cisco’s architectures. Stay tuned for new signup periods.

Check out the full list of incentives on Partner Central.

2. Helping partners help customers become one with the cloud.

To help ensure partners have a successful Year of the Cloud, Cisco’s Cloud Partner program (with three tracks) will help you prepare for growth in cloud adoption. Combine that with CloudVerse to help you build public, private, and hybrid clouds for customers and you’ve got a winning combo. You can’t lose with the intelligence of the network, the power of the data center, and the flexibility of cloud applications.

3. Work less! Programs and services to make your job easier. Read More »
