It’s been a great Cisco Partner Summit season, and we’re excited to continue the momentum – and the vigorous partner and customer discussion – at Cisco Live in Orlando next week and throughout Cisco’s upcoming fiscal year 2014.
The final presentation of Partner Summit, on Day 3, came from Chuck Robbins, SVP, Worldwide Field Operations, so we thought it fitting to get Chuck’s takeaways for partners as we wrap up our coverage of Partner Summit here on the Channels blog. Chuck’s a true channel guy – he came up through the channel territory manager ranks and many partners got to know him well when he was U.S. and Canada channel chief years ago. Chuck told partners from the stage that “you can believe that I’ll continue to be your advocate inside Cisco.”
Let’s hear a little bit more about what Chuck wants partners to keep in mind:

If you heard Padmasree Warrior, Rob Lloyd and Edzard Overbeek during Day 2 of Cisco Partner Summit, you know the overall focus was on Cisco technology strategy, innovation and services. Padma and Edzard shared additional thoughts with the Cisco Channels social media team during interviews at the event, and so did Rob – particularly as it relates to Cisco’s unique value proposition to customers and how Cisco and partners can offer simplicity, flexibility and agility when designing solutions.
Let’s hear what Rob, Cisco President, Development and Sales, wanted to make sure Cisco partners took away from their time at Partner Summit:

There’s been a lot of hype and speculation among industry watchers over Cisco’s position in the software-defined networking (SDN) trend. But as Padmasree Warrior, Cisco Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, explained during Cisco Partner Summit, SDN itself is a limited vision – customers aren’t gaining all that much by merely virtualizing network functions, for example.
“SDN addresses only a portion of the requirements our customers need,” explained Padma during her Day 2 General Session keynote at Partner Summit. It’s network programmability that should be the goal, she said, and Cisco and partners are the ones who will “clarify and explain to customers how the network of the future must transition to deliver better value.”
Padma joined the Cisco Channels social media team at Partner Summit to further clarify Cisco’s approach to network programmability. Let’s hear what she had to say:

For Cisco partners, now is the time to get more deeply involved with Cisco Services.
If you caught Edzard Overbeek’s presentation at Cisco Partner Summit earlier this month, you’ll remember what he and other executives said: for every dollar of Cisco product sold, services can generate an additional $3-$7, dramatically increasing the size of deals and translating into profits. As Edzard, SVP, Cisco Services, explained, when you combine the opportunity presented by consulting services, industry services, platform and analytics services, professional services and technical services, Cisco partners are looking at about $162 billion in addressable market.
So how do partners get there? Edzard joined the Cisco Channels social media team at Partner Summit to talk through what it all means, watch below:
