This morning at Microsoft’s Management Summit event here in Las Vegas Microsoft announced their new Private Cloud Fast Track program. Cisco is pleased to be recognized as a charter member of this program. Private Cloud Fast Track, a joint effort between Microsoft and Cisco, enables our clients to quickly get up and running with pre-configured Windows Server & Hyper-V based private clouds utilizing Cisco UCS, Nexus, and UCS Manager technology.
At Cisco we believe we are moving to an interconnected “World of Many Clouds” – our Fast Track offerings will enable our clients who choose a Microsoft private cloud environment to quickly activate and deliver an agile, efficient, and simple IT infrastructure.

This week in San Diego Cisco, partners from all over the world are converging to learn about the latest trends in IT organization, and latest solutions from Cisco at the Partner Summit 2012 ( follow on Twitter the hashtag #ciscops12)
If you are a Cisco partner, we hope that you plan to attend either physically or virtually. Check my previous blog for details on the data center program.
Let’s be real! Our great success in the Data Center relies mainly on this incredible ecosystem of talented professionals who believe in Cisco vision and products. These companies are bringing an unique value add, in building solutions designed specifically for more and more demanding IT customers – Customers under a lot of pressure to deploy solutions which are cost effective and extremely agile to meet the business requirements.
We recently met in London, one of our key partners , Dimension Data. A perfect “Mise en Bouche ” just before the Cisco Partner Summit!
Dimension Data entered the data center networking market about 3 years ago and it has been the fastest growing area of our networking business over the past years . It is now a significant contributor to our business and because of that we will double our investment in this particular space. It allows us to grab business across the 50 countries that we operate in, and it also allows us to get far more strategic with our clients and build up the network platform inside the data center that enables our clients to achieve the savings and benefits and more exciting opportunities in the market. So we certainly will be investing far more in the space together with Cisco to execute better in the market. Watch Gary Middleton , Dimension Data Business Development Manager, share his satisfaction to work with Cisco in the data Center space.
To illustrate Gary’s statement, here is a perfect and recent example of the momentum created by Cisco and partners, when working together :

In December, Cisco introduced Cisco CloudVerse, a framework and set of solutions that combines the foundational elements needed to enable organizations to build, manage, and connect public, private and hybrid clouds. Cisco CloudVerse combines these key cloud elements – Unified Data Center, Cloud Intelligent Network, and Cloud Applications and Services – enabling businesses to realize all of the benefits of clouds: improved agility, better economics, enhanced security, and a dynamic, assured experience.
As a leading technology company, Cisco pushes the envelope in our traditional industries with innovative business transformations, as we did by entering the server market in 2009 with our Unified Computing System paired with our Nexus data center switching family. Competition in the marketplace is good for customers as competition accelerates innovation, creates new opportunities as old problems are attacked from new angles, and creates incentives for the various players in the industry to work together–and separately–toward better solutions.
But achieving the promise of this progress and innovation comes with a necessary step that I feel is often overlooked, rushed, or ignored: Testing. At Cisco, we perform intense testing as we develop our solutions whether the testing is in-house, with partners and customers, or via third-parties.
Over 70 percent of leading cloud providers are using Cisco CloudVerse on their journey to the cloud, and–in the latest example of our commitment to testing–third-party testing firm EANTC has validated those cloud providers’ commitment by affirming “Cisco has all the components one would need to offer cloud services”. For coverage, Light Reading has published the first report of the Cloud Mega Test results done by EANTC.
But let’s talk more about what was behind the test.

So what makes Cloud, Virtualization, and Big Data so interesting? It’s a familiar question for every data center manager and network engineer that manages and designs the networking infrastructure in a datacenter. Like most IT departments, you have been challenged by the cost cutting to control capital outlays and operational expenditures — but now that you have done everything possible to cut costs, how can you continue to operate and innovate with reduced budget? To me, it is all about how to efficiently utilize your data center resources while still evolving and scaling your data center architecture to meet user expectations of accessing consumer and business applications from any place and device at any time.
Cisco continues its innovation leadership with the Nexus portfolio by bringing unmatched architectural flexibility and revolutionary scale with enhanced virtual security; but how do- you leverage these dramatic improvements in technology to address your business needs? How is it possible to drive greater IT capabilities and optimize your data center switching platform such as Nexus while delivering a comprehensive range of world-class, innovative data, communications, and entertainment services to your users?
