Earlier this year, we had the privilege of hosting the 19 winners from the 2013 Cisco Networking Academy International NetRiders competitions on a week-long study trip to Cisco’s headquarters in San Jose, California.
What is NetRiders? These competitions are open to students currently or recently enrolled in a Cisco Networking Academy course. Through them, students learn valuable networking and IT skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities.
During the week-long study trip, some of the winners shared their thoughts on Cisco Networking Academy and the NetRiders competitions in the Cisco TV studio.
Cisco Live, our annual training, networking, and education conferences, offer attendees a combination of in-depth technical education and insight from experts and organizations that are setting the agenda for the future of technology and business.
This year at Cisco Live in Milan, Italy, it was also an opportunity for 10 Cisco Networking Academy students to get hands-on experience supporting Cisco Live staff who were maintaining the network at the event. Six students worked before and during the event at the Network Operation Center (NOC), helping to set up the network from scratch and troubleshoot during the conference. The other 4 students joined the Cisco Campus in the World of Solutions exhibition space.
Cisco Networking Academy has trained more than 5 million people in 170 countries to design, build, manage, and secure computer networks. Currently nearly 17,000 students, 14 percent of them female, are enrolled in Networking Academy courses in Italy.
Networking Academy students Ivan Saliu and Luca Criscuolo got hands-on experience at CIsco Live.
As Cisco Live, one of our annual, regional training, networking, and education conferences, wraps up in Milan, Italy today, we are pleased to report that our first-ever Academy Day drew more than 8000 Cisco Networking Academy students, both in-person and online.
This has been an unforgettable week with the top networking students from around the globe. I’ve had the pleasure to meet 19 winners from the International NetRiders skills competition for Cisco Networking Academy students, and join them on their grand prize visit to Silicon Valley: an experience most students can only dream of!
