That’s right folks, today is Patch Tuesday and Microsoft has published its monthly security bulletin for August 2013. The bulletins address a total of 23 vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Exchange. These vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, cause a denial of service condition, or gain elevated privileges.
The bulk of the August updates correct several vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. Although little technical information is available currently, it’s likely that attackers may develop future exploits based on the vulnerabilities.
Multiple vulnerabilities correct vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. A few of the vulnerabilities involve improper processing of ICMP network packets and could allow for attacks that cause affected systems to stop responding to additional network traffic. The Cisco Data Center team recently wrapped up a great week at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) 2013. Cisco’s VP of Unified Computing Marketing, Jim McHugh took the opportunity to interview Cisco experts about how Cisco UCS provides an optimal platform for Microsoft oriented data centers and creates opportunities for channel partners to drive new customer engagements and increase sales.

We’re continuing to evolve our leadership team inside the Worldwide Partner Organization (WWPO), and as you hopefully saw earlier today, we’re once again moving a familiar face into a new role. Andrew Sage, well-known for his work with Small Business channels and most recently as VP, Worldwide Partner Led, is taking over as our new VP, Americas Distribution.
“Andrew will be responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing, operations and logistics for the Americas Distribution Channel, which represents over $6.3 billion in revenue and is a cornerstone of our Partner-Led sales strategy,” wrote Julie Hens, VP, Worldwide Distribution and Wendy Bahr, SVP, Americas Partner Organization, on the Channels blog Friday.
