Gartner has released their 2014 Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure.  For the 3rd year in a row, Cisco is recognized as a leader in both vision and execution.  We believe this Gartner recognition is validation of Cisco strategy and investments for unified access, policy management and cloud managed solutions.

Cisco’s position in the Wired and Wireless Gartner MQs has been consistent over the past 3 years as the market landscape has shifted we believe validating our commitment to meeting shifting customer priorities and requirements.

The 2014 Gartner Magic Quadrant for the Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure (Authors: Tim Zimmerman, Andrew Lerner, Bill Menezes; Published 26th June 2014) reflects the evolution from prior years and highlights what customers are looking for:

With limited growth in IT resources, administrators require one network management application, one access security solution, one guest access application or one policy enforcement solution with the flexibility to be deployed in a public cloud, private cloud or on-premises. This integration reduces the costs associated with the upfront capital expense of multiple network service applications each dedicated to either the wired infrastructure or the wireless or cloud components. This savings is also extended to the ongoing software maintenance costs of all access layer management, security and policy enforcement components.”

The Evolving UC Market: Cisco has you covered

September 16, 2013 at 3:01 pm PST

Over the last few years, changes in computing, mobility, video and cloud have transformed the collaboration market profoundly and permanently. By listening to our customers and constantly innovating and improving on our market-leading Unified Communications platform, Cisco has been able to keep pace with these drastic market shifts.  Our customers and the industry are recognizing these efforts, and as a result, I am pleased to announce that Cisco has been positioned as a Leader in Gartner’s recently released 2013 Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications and received an ‘Excellent’ rating, the highest rating given in the 2013 Critical Capabilities for Unified Communications report.

Choosing the right UC solution for your business is about more than responding to the latest trends in cloud, mobility or software applications. One of the most basic criteria customers use when choosing their UC vendor is around how the UC solution fits into their current environment. We’ve learned that there is no “one size fits all” approach for our customers. Read More »

The Benefits of Listening and Delivering in Customer Care

One of the things I enjoy most in my role leading Product Management for Cisco’s Customer Collaboration business is listening to our customers and partners to ensure we deliver products that meet their needs.  Our focus on delivery and execution sets Cisco apart in the industry.

So I’m very pleased to see that, for the second year in a row, Cisco was recognized as highest in “Ability to Execute” in Gartner’s Contact Center Infrastructure (CCI) Magic Quadrant.  Gartner bases Ability to Execute on a number of criteria--including the quality, maturity, and overall breadth of a vendor’s applications; their customer support capabilities; and their ability to deliver solutions in formal contact centers within companies, outsourcers, and service providers.  In addition, we improved our positioning in “Completeness of Vision”, with noticeable movement to the right in the June 2013 CCI Leaders Quadrant.

Cisco’s achievement in this year’s CCI Magic Quadrant is the latest recognition that our contact center business is truly firing on all cylinders.  The product development aspects Read More »

Cisco Captures A Leadership Position in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications

I’m pleased to announce that Cisco has received recognition as a Leader in Gartner’s newly-released 2012 Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications (UC).  In this report, Gartner analyzed the current enterprise UC market, and named Cisco as a market leader based on Cisco’s completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Gartner’s Unified Communications Magic Quadrant reflects the rapidly changing needs of today’s knowledge worker.  Recent research from a Cisco IBSG Horizons study showed that a striking 95% of businesses are allowing employee-owned devices in some way, shape or form in the workplace. This includes smartphones, tablets and other personal devices that run on a variety of platforms. Highlighting this trend, Gartner closely evaluated UC options that work across multiple mobile platforms, and that provide support for open standards and interoperability with other solutions.

According to Gartner’s Bern Elliot and Steve Blood, “Enterprises wish to avoid ‘closed gardens’ and weak support for standards to ensure choice and control. Support for standards is a critical consideration, as enterprises wish to integrate their UC deployments with business partners, customers, business applications and third-party products.”

Support for multiple platforms

Cisco helps businesses address this growing need by providing a full suite of UC solutions for mobile devices across a variety of deployment options, including Apple, Android and other popular operating systems. For enterprises juggling a deluge of new employee devices and corporate platforms, the ability to provide full UC client support – including video, instant messaging (IM), presence and web collaboration – across a multi-vendor environment is critical.
