In honor of Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs’ memory, the Cisco Channels team wanted to share our Top 21 iPhone apps. But with more than 500,000 apps available in the iTunes App Store, how does one even begin to narrow the list down to 21?
Well, we decided to focus on free iPhone apps that we use all the time. The perfect pairing – free and useful! And for the new iPhone converts who traded in their old devices for the new iPhone 4S, this list would be a great starting point for building your own library of useful iPhone apps.

It is so critical that we make it easier for people to get on and off the network in a secure fashion. Cisco has made incredible strides merging access control platforms that have done well over the years yet still required heavier configuration and/or manual intervention. Not any longer…The Cisco Identity Services Engine or ISE, is a game changer that has already been well received by the market and yet just keeps improving.
We featured the ISE in one of our Fundamentals animations but felt like even more could be done, especially in light of new wireless only pricing recently rolled out. This is a great step forward for a business looking to make incremental steps potentially starting now in an area that is always in need of improvement, guest access.

Remember the view master? It is still one of my favorite toys of all time. I loved slipping the card in the device and seeing those 3D images. It may have sparked my love for all things 3D.
So imagine my joy when I heard about iPhone virtual reality viewer. This device couples with an iPhone to enable immersive, 3D viewing experiences. It comes with free downloadable applications that take advantage of the accelerometer in the iPhone. In these applications the 3D environments move when the iPhone moves. So in addition to viewing 3D movie trailers, you can become a Great White Shark (or some other species if so inclined) and tool around underwater to hunt for prey and buried treasure. You can also take a virtual tour of the LA Santa Monica pier or race underground in a hovercraft.

Cisco Live: Catalyst 6500 and Sup2T: Engaging attendees with Mobile Devices
With the launch of the Sup2T supervisor, and associated line cards (69xx), for the Catalyst 6500 Family Switches, Cisco embarked on an innovative strategy to help attendees learn about the features of the Catalyst 6500 family of switches, by providing a simple “Trivia Game” that attendees could play by downloading a Catalyst 6500 Mobile app, directly to their mobile devices.
Over 780 attendees completed the trivia game on iPhones and iPads, and each day at Cisco Live, three “winners” were randomly picked from all the attendees who had answered the most trivia questions correctly.
The mobile app, available at the iTunes app store, was a huge success, especially with its contextual set of features and content, centered around the Catalyst 6500 family of switches.
