Helping you build the best: Cisco at Interop 2012

Looking for technology inspiration?  Imagining the IT possibilities? Look no further.  Interop 2012 is finally here this week!  Showcasing the latest innovations in technology in networking, security, cloud computing, virtualization, mobility portfolios plus much more, it is bound spark new ideas for IT initiatives.  With several demonstrations, speakers in 12 panel discussions, three products as finalists for Best of Interop, many of us from Cisco will be there, asking you: “what can we help you build?”

To help get the most out of what is happening at Interop, check out, ‘Insiders Guide to Optimization at Interop’ .  It gives a great suggestion for an itinerary with the highlights of Interop 2012.  Personally, I am especially looking forward to the keynote “Cisco Innovation.  In it to Win It.” by Cisco CTO and head of engineering, Padmasree Warrior.  With advancements happening so quickly in business technology, there will be many panels and educational sessions that Cisco will have to assist customers in migrating to the cloud, managing and maintaining BYOD policies, and increasing collaboration and productivity and learning about IPv6.

Not able to get to Interop but still have questions? Don’t worry, the fun geeks you can trust of Cisco’s TechWise TV will also be in Las Vegas bringing content to those there and at home:

With so many speakers and panels, don’t forget to stop by booth #1127 to say hi, get answers to questions, get a tour, check out the in-booth theater, and view the many products that will be demonstrated throughout the week. Safe travels and I look forward to seeing you there!

At Interop this Week, See Cisco’s NEW Cloud Management Solution in Action

May 7, 2012 at 9:33 am PST

Cloud is one of the big topics at Interop in Las Vegas, and we’re hitting the show floor with an exciting new cloud management solution!  If you haven’t already heard, we recently announced the new starter edition of our Cisco Intelligent Automation for Cloud software.

If your IT department is planning to take the first steps to implement a private cloud – then this is the solution for you. The starter edition offers orchestration and automation software to enable self-service provisioning for both physical and virtual infrastructure, designed for rapid deployment on Cisco UCS and targeted at simple infrastructure-as-a-service use cases. It’s also configurable and upgradeable to help you on your journey to more advanced use cases in a private or hybrid cloud, including support for a heterogeneous IT environment.

The Cisco Intelligent Automation team will be on hand at Interop this week to talk to you about building private clouds with our software:

Insiders Guide to Optimization at Interop

This weekend my little sis and I re-watched Best in Show. This 2000 gem from Christopher Guest is a gentle mocumentary of the personalities you’d find at a dog show. We got some laughs as we watched the dialog between the commentators – one who was supposed to be quite knowledgeable on dogs, and one who was clueless and said things like:

Now tell me, which one of these dogs would you want to have as your wide receiver on your football team?

I especially liked the above because it is pretty random and the response from the other commentator was great. I thought about it this morning since the NFL draft is tonight (go Niners!) and was thinking about Best In Show overall since we have our own competition coming up in a few weeks.

Cisco Demonstrates IPv6 Interoperability

At Cisco, we’ve talked many times before about the exhaustion of IPv4 address space and the need for the industry to adopt IPv6 to support the explosion in the number of people, devices, and web services and enable the continuing growth of the Internet. As you can read in the announcement on our corporate blog, today Cisco joined with other leading industry participants such as AT&T, Google, Facebook, Comcast, and Time Warner Cable to be part of the World IPv6 Launch. This means that by June 6, 2012 all participants will permanently enable IPv6 on their networks and websites.

Since deployment of IPv6 requires an industry-wide response we recently teamed with Excentis to participate in Read More »
