Like a lot of us in IT, I’m into electronics. I enjoy visiting stores to get the actual hands-on experience of the product – but I admit I rarely buy on the spot. Why? I want to make sure I know what I’m buying, and frankly, that I’m getting the best deal. I either have to do research beforehand – read reviews, check prices, and clip coupons -- or search on my mobile device while I’m in the store. Depending on the results, I could either be heading to another store or heading home to make the purchase online.
This week, Cisco introduced a new way to transform that in-venue experience through Connected Mobile Experiences Web engagement. This enables organizations to communicate with opt-in mobile users – shoppers, guests, visitors -- through their mobile browser, right there in the venue.
Location-aware menus, banners, and icons as well as content-aware search enable organizations to provide venue-specific information – such as nearby dining or amenities -- as well as any information the user may find valuable based on their context: where they are, how long they are there, whether they are a new or repeat visitor, or even what sites they are visiting. This customized communication can dynamically change when the user’s context changes.
Imagine merging the online with the brick and mortar shopping experience – if I’m standing in a particular area looking at a product, the location-aware menu can provide me a link to user reviews of that particular product. As was done at the Tokyo workshop, the CCDB has invited active Industry participation in a Private + Public Partnership dialogue for the majority of the joint meetings. To allow for greater numbers to participate in interactive dialogue and directly with the CCDB, an extended closing meeting will be held between the CCUF and CCDB on Thursday at the Microsoft offices.
The Tuesday and Thursday sessions will be held at the Microsoft Office in Paris; Wednesday Cisco will be hosting workshop participants at their offices.
Wednesday will be composed of breakout topics amongst the CCUF participants, and will be held at the Cisco Office. The main topics for Tuesday and Thursday, which will be presented to the CCDB during the closing session on Thursday, are:
Role of CCUF in the work of forming, supporting, and cross-fertilizing Common Criteria technical communities
Taking forward the work on ‘innovation’
How to efficiently, effectively, and fairly use the associated technical community to maintain the collaborative Protection Profile as new approaches are developed

March 8th 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, which was set up by women in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland to protest against poor working conditions, low pay and male oppression.
There are many article out there highlihgting the fact that in many countries and roles across the world men still earn more than woman, but there also many positive articles pronouncing the great work that women are doing today.
This year the UN’s IWD theme is Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.
